"PPIS has been in the forefront of providing quality pre-school education. It was one of the first to introduce a play-based approach in the 1980s. Using play as a stimulus for learning ensures that the learning experience remains an enjoyable one for our children. This encourages them to be curious, inquisitive and eager to embrace new knowledge. PPIS’ commitment to this approach can be clearly seen today at Bukit Batok - from the Water feature that greets you at the schools entrance, to the attractive murals on the walls, some of which were designed and painted by the team of dedicated teachers themselves. Children at the Bukit Batok Centre can even have access to facilities not offered by other pre-school centres in Singapore, including a first-of-its-kind Road Safety Park."

- Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports and Second Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts, at the opening ceremony of the PPIS’ refurbished Bukit Batok Centre, 29th March 2008.

On 2nd January 1983, PPIS opened its first kindergarten. Today, with more than 32 years of experience, PPIS runs 6 childcare centres with a total enrolment of about 500 children.
